    Abstract
This project’s focus is on mentoring and the effects such programs can have on the adult learner in post-secondary institutions. This project was chosen because adult learners face many obstacles when pursuing a secondary education that most traditional student do not. I was fortunate enough to have been able to establish an informal mentoring relationship early in this program which I feel was imperative to my successful completion. The information utilized to address this capstone topic was explored through the use of previous publications found via online research. It was found that many institutions utilize mentoring programs to help with social integration of new students, and also a way to build individual leadership skills.
