Abstract
The US military is a large organization with a defined hierarchical structure that emulates many other large organizations in the private sector. With a large number of military members transitioning into the private sector, there is an abundance of talent that may not be fully utilized. Through research and review of existing academic resources, I have identified some of the leadership qualities that may be indicators of a military leader’s ability to take on leadership roles in other organizations. Although there are correlations, there is the potential for additional research on the challenges of transitioning from one role to the next.
