Abstract
The ability to schedule procedures accurately the first time is limited by the ability to obtain accurate, timely surgical information from the providers offices. The inconsistent language and incomplete or inaccurate paperwork that is received causes surgical delays and potential risk for patient harm. By formalizing the criteria and updating the procedural database we improve the process while optimizing the perioperative resources: surgical teams, equipment, supplies etc. Thus improving the overall patient and provider experience with the surgical areas and hospital overall.
