This project was conducting research to identify strategies and approaches to prevent the sexual assault of residents in long-term living facilities. This subject area was selected due to the increase of resident-to-resident sexual assaults in long-term care facilities, and the need for leadership in addressing this situation. Research was conducted in several areas including elder care, facility management, sexual assault advocacy. The results provide several recommendations and strategies for facilities to utilize to prevent sexual assaults, and provide State Agencies a rubric to investigate alleged sexual assaults. This will provide an important foundation to address this critical issue across the United States and protect vulnerable populations that require advocacy and protection from harm.en_US
