Completing an online master’s degree is a great accomplishment that comes with a personal journey. The literature on graduate level education, online programs, motivational factors and various barriers, add insight to the high attrition rates and students’ ideal outcomes. Through investigating previous studies and research, as well as a study conducted on the current Granite State College capstone students, more information on the process is uncovered. The ideal platform for adult learners is looked at through self-directed learning and the Transformational Learning Theory. The findings will hopefully assist future students and academic institutions to continue improvements and remain successful.
