This project provides an assessment of the impact of personality types and learning styles on athletic coaching styles, using survey research conducted with a high school boys’ basketball team to put theory into practice. Every athletic team is comprised of a mix of individuals, each of whom has a unique personality and a unique learning style, and those aspects for each individual player combine to create the personality and learning style for the entire team. This research demonstrates that an athletic coach who understands that combination will gain an enhanced understanding of the team and will have the opportunity to adjust his or her coaching leadership style to match, which will positively influence choices of teaching methods, teaching tools, and communication styles.
