Each year Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital needs to report to the State of New Hampshire the number of employees who received the influenza vaccination. Employees have two options get vaccinated or apply for an exemption. All employees must declare their status by November 30th or the employee risks termination. Any employee who receives an exemption must wear a mask in all patient care areas or where a patient or visitor may be located in the hospital during the influenza season. This is determined by the Infection Preventionist. The project’s governance committee has faced turnover each year. The project was assigned by the Vice President of Patient Care Services. In addition to accomplishing the employee vaccination, the project also developed standard processes and documentation. Now at the kickoff of the yearly event all the tools are reviewed each person knows their responsibility and can be done with decreased meetings.
