dc.descriptionThe purpose of this study was to review data that answered the question “How do you instill leadership skills and abilities in foster care youth?” The approach taken was to explore a variety of research including peer reviewed research. This study looked at research that is specifically related to aging out of the foster care system, informed by the direct feedback from foster care youth as much as possible. The present study will examine if any specific factors contributed to their success and discuss what potential challenges inhibit their ability to be successful. Furthermore, the study examined and identified what leadership skills and abilities are and how they are instilled in foster care youth that have aged out to transition to independent living. The study explored the internal and external traits foster care youth develop in relation to leadership skills and abilities.
