There is existing literature discussing musical ensemble conductors as leaders which assesses leadership qualities from the perspective of ensemble member perception and experience. Although this follower-focused orientation is valuable, there is an opportunity to understand how conductors act in leaderful ways. To understand how conductors are filling the role of leaders for musical ensembles, this research discusses feedback gathered from several conductors about how they incorporate characteristics and behaviors of servant and transformational leadership into their work.en_US
